Getting Real

I have been wanting to write this post for a while. Several months actually. But before several months before that I didn't want to write maybe ever again. In fact I didn't want to do anything, except try to pull my life back together. It has been the hardest year of my life. The last time I blogged was May 25th, 2014, three days before the sudden and very unexpected death of my father. It stopped me in my tracks and knocked the wind out of my sails. The thought of ever coming back to this blog and sharing our life on this little corner of the internet overwhelmed me.

But in a way this blog has also saved me. I have had countless readers reach out and ask about the blog. I received emails and messages. I have had friends and family ask if we were going to blog again. It has been humbling and has given me hope. I have struggled with how to come back to blogging. Do I just come back with a recipe or DIY? Do I try to explain all the struggles we have faced this year? This is all new to me. But I knew that I needed to come back and embrace this outlet and thank our friends and family and readers for their support and love during this difficult time.

I am hopeful and determined that 2015 will be a better year and a time for change. We have been working on some projects and are ready to share our Sideways House again.

In the words of one of our favorite authors,
"And so rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life."
-J.K. Rowling

2015 will be a year of rebuilding and growth, and we look forward to sharing it with you.
Thank you for reading. Bring it on 2015!
